Hull United women's First Team V South Shield Ladies

For the first league game of the season, who are United ladies hosted South Shields ladies at Haworth Park. Trying to build from last weeks win against Milmoor, the energy was very positive before the start of the game. The intention was to keep the ball and allow the ball to do the work because of the heat. The back four was slightly adjusted from last week with Eleanor moving into the left back position and Millie sharp dropping in into the centre back role in which she performs well.

There was some bright moments in the first half with Captain Holmes and her midfield partner of Lisle starting some great balls into the front three of Damms, Thomas and Ward.

Unfortunately, unable to put any of the chances away, Tesco stayed level for the majority of the game, until South Shields played a three ball onto the striker, which finished the first half at 1-0 to the away side

Some substitutions were made at half-time, Lisle of for Tankard who was making a return for the start of the season. The words at half-time, or to play with more intensity and to go out on the front foot. 10 minutes into the first half united forward received a second yellow (the first yellow being from an altercation in the first half). With the latest down to 10 players alterations were made to try and keep South Shields from any goalscoring opportunities but after going down to 9 players after a Sim been created more problems for United to quit goes, then came from the away side, making it 3-0. Another goal then came from a keeper error. This then sealed United’s fate, finishing the game four nil to South Shields. a lot to take from the game and things to work on as a squad. improvements are being made to prepare ourselves for Sundays away fixture against Spennymoor.

POTM went to faith who worked tirelessly when she came into the pitch and played brilliantly.
