Hull United Womens Development V Hessle Rangers Ladies

This Sunday the ladies looked to improve on last weeks performance against Pocklington and complete the league double over Hessle, with the reverse fixture ending 6-0 to United.

From the off the hosts started brightly with Workman, Smirk And Groves creating plenty of chances for Hughes up top. After only 6 minutes a defensive clearance from Ayre found the run of Hughes who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net. The football continued to improve for United with some really great passages of play on display. 4 minutes after the opener; new signing Okpeta found herself free at the back post to double the lead, in only her second game for the club. 2-0.

United extended their lead once more before half time with Ellie Smirk getting herself on the scoresheet.

HT: 3-0

United went into the second half full off confidence as they continued the good football seen in the first 45 minutes.

Substitutes Whitfield and Witty added fresh legs to the squad, working hard to extend the lead.

After 20 minutes of dominance, Workman found herself free outside the box, and a worldie strike found the back of the net. 4-0. With 10 minutes to go Hughes got her second of the game, topping off a great display from the striker.

With 5 minutes left, Whitfield went between the sticks allowing keeper Cooke to get a run out up top. She soon got stuck in assisting Workman for her second worldie of the game.

Full time 6-0

A brilliant and confident display for the ladies earned them all 3 points.

Player of the match was awarded to Sammie Workman, Sammie has come in to the squad and really shown her class in the middle of the park. Keeping us calm on the ball and getting us playing football.

This Sunday the ladies travel to play Ferriby in the league, this will be a different test for the ladies but one we are looking forward too.
